A FREE Community

Exploring how yoga and mindfulness help those of us living with HIV and AIDS.

The Program

A brief overview of this site from Christopher Turner: long-term HIV survivor, Registered Yoga Teacher and the founder of this community.

Why Yoga?

The science shows that yoga, breathing and mindfulness can help to deal with some of the biggest issues facing those of us who are HIV positive. This site and community is about bringing together people who want to explore ways to feel better, as well as ways to combat the long term effects of managed HIV infection. These practices are meant to be an adjunct to antiretroviral therapy (ART). Studies show that inflammation is a big issue with long-term HIV infection--even for those with a suppressed viral load. Yoga has been proven to reduce inflammation in the body. It has also been proven to help with mental health issues, chronic stress, and it makes us healthier and happier.

Can I do Yoga?

Yes! Whether you're someone who is older and has never tried yoga before or you're a seasoned yogi, you will find a place here. Breathwork, mindfulness, and gentle chair yoga practices are accessible to just about everyone. More rigorous classes are great for those who are athletically inclined. I do offer classes and explore practices as part of this site, but I also welcome those who already have their own practice to be a part of the community and a part of the conversation. My hope is that we can build a community that will help to support us all.

The Site

This is a FREE and private community for people living with HIV. Inside you'll find classes and information, as well as many community features that will allow you to chat with others, share thoughts and ideas, set up meetings and events with other members, and all kinds of other good stuff.

I am launching this site in the summer of 2022, and if all goes well I'll be forming a non-profit in the US and/or a charity as it's called here in the UK. I will keep this site and program free and available for all, but will gratefully accept any donations to help keep things running and so that I can bring more services (including other teachers) to the community.
